Train to become an AAML certified mediator

Mediation offers each party a “realistic” look at their own case and can provide insight into the opposing side’s case. It also allows for the clients to be present and take an active role in the process, whether in direct conversation with the mediator or hearing the other side’s position. As it becomes clear to each party what they can expect to achieve, their position on settlement usually becomes more defined and flexible.

The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) offers a comprehensive and highly acclaimed forty-hours of intense but insightful focus on the issues of mediation.  The program concentrates on when mediation can be used, the benefits, how it works and the nuances of the various legislation and state laws.

A primer on the mediation process from initial intake work with clients, working with difficult parties, memorializing agreements and tips on building your mediation practice. Hands-on instruction with the opportunity to participate in mock mediation demonstrations and receive feedback.

The seminar is conducted with an exceptionally high standard of speakers and trainers and using an interactive format with role play, lectures and collaborative sessions working in small groups, focusing on the skills required to become an effective mediator.

Completing the 40-hour program enables Fellows to be certified as AAML mediators and listed as such on the AAML website.
