Profile

Allyson Hughes is Board Certified in Marital and Family Law by The Florida Bar, a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and Past Chair of the Family Law Section of The Florida Bar.

Board Certification is held by few Florida attorneys. She has held this certification continuously since 1998. The Florida Bar awards Board Certification after rigorous examination, peer review, and ongoing study in family law.

She was admitted to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in 2019. AAML Fellowship is not a membership an attorney joins. Applicants must already be Board Certified, pass a national written examination, pass an oral examination administered by Florida AAML examiners, and be vouched for by judges and peers.

The Past Chair role with the Family Law Section of The Florida Bar represents leadership of the statewide body for every family law attorney in Florida. That role is not one an attorney applies for. It is one the profession bestows. She also served as Past Chair of The Florida Bar’s Family Law Board Certification Committee, the body that reviews applicants seeking Board Certification in the specialty.

Over more than 30 years of practice, Allyson has handled the full range of family law matters, from straightforward divorces to highly contested litigation involving complex assets, parenting disputes, and support modifications. She has negotiated settlements, tried cases, and guided clients in mediation at every level of complexity. She has also served as an expert witness on family law matters.

Allyson has played a direct role in shaping how the next generation of family law attorneys is trained in Florida. She revamped The Florida Bar’s Matrimonial Trial Advocacy Seminar and repeatedly chaired and presented at the Matrimonial Certification Review, the program that prepares attorneys seeking Board Certification.

She practices in Pasco, Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Hernando counties from her office in New Port Richey, Florida.
