Cultures and Conversations

We are looking forward to our May 14, 2025 Cultures and Conversations program: Rename, Remove, Revisit: Revisionist History and Why It Matters.  This program explores the evolving conversation around history, memory, and identity. Across the country and around the world, we’ve seen a growing movement to rename streets, remove statues, and rebrand institutions and sports teams—decisions driven by a reexamination of who we honor and why.

These actions reflect a shift in collective values—an attempt to reconcile the present with the past. But history isn’t static, and neither is public opinion. As debates heat up, some communities are beginning to revisit those earlier choices, questioning whether removal was the right move, or whether we should consider how to contextualize the past.

Please consider joining us at 6 p.m. CST on May 14, 2025!!!
