2024 Arbitration

AAML ARBITRATION TRAINING INSTITUTE
Thank you to everyone that attended the AAML Arbitration Training Institute on June 6-7, 2024, in Chicago, IL. We hope you enjoyed your experience from the speakers to the training activities throughout the two-day session.

With Family Law Arbitration trending as an increasingly viable ADR process across the country, and as the only professional training family law arbitration institute in the country, AAML offers to AAML Fellows an opportunity to receive their AAML Arbitrator certification. The Arbitration Training Institute includes:

  • Pre-training zoom sessions with your designated advisor
  • Pre-training webinar explains the history of arbitration and examines the current state of arbitration status in the U.S. as well as ethical issues for arbitrators
  • Relevant statutes, and case law along with professional responsibilities of an arbitrator
  • Two days of in-person training on June 6-7, 2024, in Chicago focused on the foundational skills of how to conduct a successful arbitration
  • A post-training session with your advisor to review and provide direct feedback on the participant’s arbitration award

Fellows completing the program will receive the certification as an AAML Arbitrator. Non-Fellows completing the program will receive acknowledgement of their participation in the program.

Instructors: This year’s instructors feature experienced family law arbitrators Carolyn Moran Zack of Momjian Anderer LLC and Rochelle B. “Shelly” Grossman of Potts Shoemaker & Grossman, LLC, who trained 35 participants at last year’s AAML Arbitration Institute as well as many family lawyers as arbitrators in Montana, Maryland, Virginia, and DC.  Carolyn Moran Zack authored the treatise on Family Law Arbitration: Practice, Procedures, and Forms, published by the ABA and the treatise will be provided to the participants as part of their materials for this training. They will be joined by David M. Johnson of Johnson Kush.
