Hosted by Jack Ford, Focus on Forever Intends to Help Couples Prepare for Life-Long Commitment
CHICAGO, IL, July 23, 2008 — Few professionals have more experience in examining why marriages fail and seeing the negative effects of a final split than divorce attorneys. As a result, the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) has announced the introduction of Focus on Forever, an informative and down-to- earth DVD that helps couples prepare for marriage before and after they exchange vows. An hour-long program hosted by Jack Ford, Focus on Forever provides both expert and personal advice on how to build and maintain a successful marriage.
“The goal of Focus on Forever is to provide newly engaged couples with an open and realistic discussion about marriage,” said James Hennenhoefer, president of the AAML. “As matrimonial lawyers, we regularly witness relationships that have reached a point of no return. All too often, problems occur and then worsen due to a lack of effective communication between couples. We are hoping that this DVD encourages future brides and grooms to talk freely with one another about their goals and expectations prior to walking down the aisle.”
Nationally renowned experts, including psychologist Joy Browne, offer effective strategies for working through various issues. Actual couples, including singer and songwriters Ashford and Simpson, also give reality-based perspectives on topics including children, finances, conflict resolution and blended families. A brief history lesson on marriage and an analysis of recent research provides couples with a wealth of ideas for improving their relationship and offers essential tips for a loving and lasting marriage.
Focus on Forever is a two-disc set that includes the informational DVD and a bonus CD-ROM with communications and conflict resolution exercises. The set is currently available for purchase for $9.99 through the Academy’s website (www.aaml.org).
