Ken Altshuler Elected President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers

Chicago, IL, November 14, 2011 – The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) announced today that Ken Altshuler, a nationally recognized expert in family law, has been elected president. The Academy is comprised of more than 1,600 of the country’s top divorce and family law attorneys.
“I am honored to accept this role and welcome the opportunity to lead the Academy,” said Altshuler. “Since its founding, the AAML has been setting the highest standards for the practice of matrimonial law and my presidency is dedicated to ensuring that we continue to reach even greater levels of excellence.”
A practicing attorney for more than 25 years in Portland, Maine, with an exclusive focus on family law, Altshuler is the former Chair of the Maine State Bar Association Family Law section, as well as the section’s former Secretary and Legislative Liaison. He has also taught courses in Family Law for the paralegal programs at the University of Southern Maine and Andover College.
Having served on the AAML Executive Committee since 2005, Altshuler has held membership in the organization for the past 20 years. He is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (IAML) and is a Diplomate of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers, which limits its membership to 100 attorneys from across the United States. He is included in the exclusive Best Lawyers in America in the specialty of Family Law, is distinguished as a Lawdragon Finalist and a New England Super Lawyer.
A widely quoted legal expert and frequent lecturer, Altshuler is also the co-host of the number one rated morning radio talk show in Portland on 560 WGAN and is the author of a recently published book on golf entitled, Golf Foreplay. He continues work at the private practice of Childs, Rundlett, Fifield & Altshuler in Portland.
