The President

Alton Abramowitz

Having served on the AAML Executive Committee since 2004, Alton has held membership in the organization for the past 30 years. During this time, he also had the honor of being named President of the AAML New York Chapter from 1997-1999.

Throughout a four decade legal career, Alton has earned widespread recognition as an accomplished family law attorney and a leader of New York’s matrimonial bar. His comments on a broad array of legal topics have been frequently covered by the national and local news media and he is listed in both annual publications Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers. Alton has also lectured and written on many family law subjects and was a leading advocate for the enactment of “no fault divorce” in New York.

His colleagues have often chosen Alton to fill key positions in leading bar associations, including Vice-Chair of the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, past Chair of the Matrimonial Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association, and past Co-Chair of the Matrimonial Law Section of the New York County Lawyers Association. In addition, he is a Diplomate of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers, which limits its membership to 100 attorneys from across the United States, and serves on the Matrimonial Practice Advisory Committee at the Judicial Institute of the New York State Office of Court Administration. He currently practices divorce law in New York City as a senior partner of Mayerson Abramowitz & Kahn, LLP.
